Description:

The 7S-RM-IM Electric Operating Mechanism is a specific model of a motorized mechanism used for the remote and automatic control of circuit breakers. The device enables the electrical operation (opening and closing) and remote monitoring of an associated circuit breaker.

Key Features and Functionality

  • Highly Integrated and Compact Sealing: The operating mechanism is completely isolated from the SF₆ gas chamber, connected to the internal moving contact system via a sealed shaft. This ensures complete gas sealing and achieves maintenance-free operation.
  • Three-Position Integrated Design: The switch unit is typically a “three-position” switch, integrating isolation (close), earthing (open), and isolation (disconnect) functions into a single switch, operated by a single mechanism.
  • Simple and Reliable Operation: Due to SF₆ gas’s excellent arc-quenching properties, even when used as a load switch, the operating force is low, allowing for a more compact mechanism design.
  • Local and Remote Operation:
Local Operation: Typically equipped with a manual operating hole for local closing/opening using a dedicated operating handle.
Motorized Operation: Enables remote motorized control of the three-position switch via an external control power source, serving as a key component for Distribution Automation (DA) and remote control.
  • Forced Sequence Operation and Safety Interlocking:
Core functionality ensures the “open before closing” logic between three positions. Electrical interlocking is achieved with circuit breaker units (if present) or between cabinets.
  • Status Monitoring and Feedback:
Auxiliary contacts provide real-time feedback of the switch’s positional status (ON/OFF/EARTH) to the DTU (Distribution Terminal Unit) or monitoring center. Expandable monitoring includes gas chamber pressure (low-pressure alarm, lockout).
